Decratex Quartz Natural

The Decratex Quartz system consists of blended decorative aggregates tenaciously bonded into a specialist resin base coat and encapsulated with a highly advanced clear two-part resin coating. It creates a stunning aesthetic effect normally associated with carpets and vinyls, at the same time providing an extremely tough and hygienic industrial floor surface with excellent abrasion and chemical resistance.

Preparation:Thorough surface preparation is essential.
The floor must be as even and level as possible, otherwise the top coat may form puddles in any depressions before curing.
Please refer to Polycote WD Primer data sheet prior to priming, and follow surface preparation guidelines with care. If the surface is damaged, uneven, contaminated with oil or damp, please contact Polycote technical helpline for advice.Please note: Decratex™ Quartz ‘Smooth’ finish should only be applied to totally level floors (eg. powerfloated concrete or self-levelling screeds).
Applying the Resin:
Follow directions on separate version data sheet supplied. It is imperative that the resin totally covers the entire surface – Decratex Quartz aggregate will only adhere to the resin.

Applying the Aggregate:
The Decratex™ Quartz aggregate must be sprinkled onto the wet resin immediately.
Larger areas will require at least two persons, one to roll the resin on to the floor and the other to follow up broadcasting the aggregate, walking on the wet resin using spiked shoes (available from Polycote UK).
For best results, first pour the aggregate from the sack into a clean dry bucket. This will redistribute the various particle sizes and colours for an even blend and provide a convenient container from which to sprinkle the aggregate.
The wet resin must be totally blinded with Decratex Quartz Aggregate – no resin should remain visible and any wet spots that appear (due to depressions in the sub-floor) must be filled with aggregate immediately. Avoid sprinkling a thicker layer than is necessary to achieve total coverage, as the surplus cannot be brushed off until the resin has cured, causing a shortage of aggregate.
Take care to avoid disturbing the sprinkled aggregate until the resin has cured.
After 12-18 hours ensure the aggregate has firmly bonded before sweeping or vacuuming off the excess.
Keep area clean and free of traffic and overcoat with a sealer within 48 hours.

Applying the Sealer Coat:
Follow directions on separate sealer datasheet for mixing, curing times, etc.The coverage rate will depend on the desired finish and the consequent quantity of resin supplied per 15m² unit.
‘Natural’ finish – using a roller, apply two light coats of Decratex™ Quartz Sealer @ 2.5kg per 15m² per coat (6m² per kg) allowing 24 hours between coats.
‘Medium’ finish – using a roller, apply two heavy coats of Decratex™ Quartz Sealer @ 5.0kg per 15m² per coat (3m² per kg) allowing 24 hours between coats.
‘Smooth’ finish – first apply one heavy coat of Decratex™ Quartz Sealer with a serrated squeegee @ 10.0kg per 15m² (1.5m² per kg). Any trapped air bubbles should be removed by rolling the entire wet coating using a spiked roller. Spiked shoes must be worn to avoid disturbing the wet surface.
After initial cure of the squeegee coat has taken place (approx. 24 hours) apply a further coat of Decratex Quartz Sealer using a roller @ 5.0kg per 15m² (3.0m² per kg).
